10 HireVue Alternatives for Volume Hiring in India (2026)
A senior HR lead who runs high-volume hiring told us something in our pilot that shaped everything we built afterwards: “Top candidates won’t record themselves. But if it’s a meeting, 15-20 minutes, they will just interact. They don’t have to prepare a script.”
That sentence is the most common reason teams start looking past HireVue. HireVue is best known for video interviewing, and for a large global employer it is still a serious platform. But a recorded video asks the candidate to perform for a camera, alone, with no one on the other side. The strongest candidates, the ones with three other offers, are often the ones who close the tab.
This post covers ten alternatives, grouped by what you are actually trying to replace. Disclosure up front: we make HireQwik, one of the ten. Everything said about the others, and about HireVue, comes from each company’s own website, checked on 6 October 2026, and every tool is judged on the same five questions.
Quick picks by what you’re replacing
Replacing the video format: a voice AI interviewer. HireQwik, HeyMilo, Puck or Zeko AI. Replacing the enterprise contract but keeping video: Willo, Spark Hire or VidCruiter. Replacing a written or test-based screen: Sapia.ai for chat, Talview or Mercer | Mettl for proctored assessments.
Why teams look past HireVue
HireVue describes itself as AI screening, assessments and video interviewing, with an AI interviewer that gives every applicant a conversation around the clock, for both high-volume frontline hiring and professional roles. Two things send buyers looking elsewhere.
The format. One-way video works when candidates want the job enough to record themselves. In campus and entry-level hiring in India, the best candidates often have options, and a recording feels like homework. A spoken conversation, where the other side asks a follow-up, feels like a meeting instead.
The buying process. HireVue doesn’t publish prices; you request a demo and get a quote. For a team that needs to screen one campus drive next month, a sales-led platform purchase can be more than the problem needs.
Neither is a flaw for the buyer HireVue is built for. Both are reasons a different team ends up here.
How we compared them
- Interview format: voice, video, chat or test, and whether the candidate talks to something that responds.
- What gets scored: only the words in a transcript, or also how the answer was delivered.
- Resume step: does the tool read the resume before the interview, or start from the interview alone?
- Volume: self-scheduling, bulk invites, and whether one recruiter can run a drive of thousands.
- Buying: published pricing, or a demo and a quote.

Voice AI interviewers
1. HireQwik (ours): best for campus and entry-level drives in India
HireQwik starts from the resume, not the interview. Each resume is scored against every requirement in the job description, as met, partial or missing, with the line from the resume that proves it. Candidates who clear the bar book their own slot and take a 10-20 minute AI voice interview in their browser, on a phone or a laptop.
The interview asks the role’s knockout questions first, then follows up on each answer. Two evaluators score it: one on what was said, one on how it was said, from the audio itself, including pace, hesitation, pronunciation and fluency. Every candidate lands in Strong Go, Go, On Hold or No Go, with the recording and transcript attached, and recruiters can override any verdict. It handles up to 1,300 interview slots a day and works alongside your ATS.
Check before you buy: interviews run in English today, there is no automated phone call in production (candidates join from a link), and we don’t publish prices. You can take the AI interview yourself first.
2. HeyMilo: best for staffing agencies that want phone and video in one tool
HeyMilo calls itself an AI recruiter for high-volume hiring. It runs automated phone screens and scored two-way video interviews, auto-scores and shortlists CVs, and offers a separate product for detecting cheating in interviews. Its demo page speaks mainly to staffing agencies.
Check before you buy: pricing isn’t published, so ask how cost scales with interview volume.
3. Puck: best for teams that want a phone-first screen with published limits
Puck combines recruitment automation with phone-first AI screening. Its smaller plan includes a lightweight ATS and AI resume review. Its pricing page publishes interview limits per plan, up to 200 AI interviews a month on Standard and 500 on Pro, with extra interviews charged per interview.
Check before you buy: ask how its phone screen handles Indian accents, names and numbers, and test it on your own candidates.
4. Zeko AI: best for enterprises that want a longer, adaptive conversation
Zeko AI describes itself as workforce intelligence for talent decisions, built on adaptive conversations. Its example interview runs about 35 minutes.
Check before you buy: 35 minutes is a deep screen; for a first filter on thousands of applicants, ask whether a shorter format exists.
One-way and live video, lighter than HireVue
5. Willo: best for simple asynchronous video at a lower commitment
Willo is an asynchronous video interview platform that promises to screen at scale. Plans are on its pricing page, with a sales conversation for complex or high-volume enterprise needs.
Check before you buy: it keeps the one-way format, so check completion rates for your candidate pool before assuming a cheaper tool fixes a drop-off problem.
6. Spark Hire: best for lean teams that want an ATS and video together
Spark Hire combines an applicant tracking system with one-way video interviews, AI scoring and behavioral assessments, and sells AI resume review credits. It publishes pricing: its ATS starts at $335 a month on the Pro plan for companies with up to 50 employees, as of October 2026.
Check before you buy: it is built for lean teams, so test it on your largest drive, not your average one.
7. VidCruiter: best for structured live and recorded interviews
VidCruiter offers pre-recorded one-way video, branded live interview rooms with rating guides, and AI screening that scores candidates on job-specific competencies. Pricing is a custom quote.
Check before you buy: live video still needs your interviewers’ time; it structures the conversation rather than removing it.
Chat and assessment-led
8. Sapia.ai: best when a written answer tells you enough
Sapia.ai runs AI chat interviews built on structured assessment. Candidates answer in text.
Check before you buy: text measures written communication. For spoken roles such as sales or support, decide whether a chat tells you what you need.
9. Talview: best when integrity of a remote assessment is the main worry
Talview offers AI interviewing and AI proctoring, video interview software built for high-volume hiring, and a resume integrity check that separates inflated claims from evidenced ones. Pricing comes through a quote form.
Check before you buy: proctoring adds friction for candidates; use it where cheating is the real risk.
10. Mercer | Mettl: best for campus drives built around a test
Mercer | Mettl is an online talent assessment platform. If your drive filters on aptitude or technical tests before anyone talks to a candidate, it belongs on the list.
Check before you buy: ask specifically about its interview format; its site leads with assessments.
Which one fits what you’re replacing
“Candidates won’t record themselves.” Move to a conversation: HireQwik, HeyMilo or Puck. Run ten real candidates through the demo and watch where they drop.
“The contract is too big for our volume.” Keep video, buy lighter: Willo or Spark Hire, both with published plans.
“We need a test, not an interview.” Mercer | Mettl or Talview, and add an interview tool only for the candidates who pass.
“We hire thousands of freshers a year in India.” Put the resume screen and the first interview in one flow so recruiters only see a shortlist. That is the case we built HireQwik for, and the one most alternatives lists ignore.
Switching from HireVue without breaking a live drive
- Pick one role that is hiring now, not your biggest program.
- Run both tools on it for three weeks. Same applicants, same job description.
- Compare against reality: which candidates did each tool advance, and which of those did your hiring managers actually take?
- Export your HireVue recordings and scores before the contract ends; you may need them for disputes or audits.
- Rewrite the candidate emails. A voice interview invite needs different instructions from a video invite: a quiet room, a working microphone, a link that opens on a phone.
- Check the ATS handoff with a real candidate record before switching the rest of your roles.
When to stay on HireVue
Stay if you run a global hiring program across many countries and HireVue is already wired into your ATS, your assessments and your compliance reviews. Switching costs are real, and a platform your recruiters know has value that a feature list doesn’t show. Stay, too, if your hiring depends on the assessment science behind it rather than on the first-round screen.
If your pain is the first screen of a high-volume drive in India, bring a live job description and we’ll screen against it, or compare tools on resume screening and AI interviews first. We also wrote up why a spoken screen beats a one-way video for the roles most of our customers hire.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best HireVue alternative for campus hiring in India?
For campus drives with thousands of applicants, look for a tool that screens the resume and runs the first interview in one flow, lets candidates book their own slot, and works on a phone browser in the evening, when students actually take interviews. Voice AI interviewers such as HireQwik, HeyMilo and Puck fit that shape; assessment platforms such as Mercer | Mettl and Talview fit drives where a test matters more than a conversation.
Is there a HireVue alternative that doesn't use video?
Yes. Voice AI interviewers run the first screen as a spoken conversation instead of a recorded video: HireQwik in the candidate's browser, HeyMilo and Puck as automated phone screens. Sapia.ai uses a text chat. Candidates who won't record themselves on camera will often still take a conversation.
How much does HireVue cost?
HireVue doesn't publish prices on its website; you request a demo and get a quote. Ask for the full annual cost, including implementation and the assessments you will actually use, so you can compare it with tools that do publish pricing, such as Spark Hire or Puck.
Can you run HireVue and an alternative on the same role?
Yes, and it's the safest way to switch. Send one role's applicants through both for a few weeks, compare the shortlists against the candidates your team actually hires, and only then move the rest of your roles. Keep your past HireVue recordings and scores exported before any contract ends.
See your own candidates screened
Book a 30-minute demo. Bring a live JD and we'll screen against it, then start with a pilot on your own candidates before committing to anything.
